Book review

Let me just say: if you love forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, tropical chaos, and workplace redemption—with a lot of heat—Not Safe for Work is about to be your new favorite escape. Trishara Malik is an ambitious, no-nonsense engineer who’s been fighting to break the glass ceiling at her male-dominated firm. She’s smart, capable, and exhausted—especially after watching her dream promotion go to Rafe Gallagher, the golden boy/boss’s son/all-around infuriating nemesis. So when she gets selected for a leadership retreat in Hawaii, it feels like her big break. Three weeks in paradise to revive her stalled career? Yes please. Until she arrives and finds out she’ll be sharing a honeymoon suite with none other than—you guessed it—Rafe. From the moment they’re stuck together, sparks fly (and not just the angry kind). The banter is sharp, the tension is delicious, and the slow unraveling of Tris’s assumptions about Rafe is so satisfying to watch. He’s not just the guy who got promoted—he’s funny, kind, loyal, and maybe, just maybe, not the villain she’s built him up to be. There’s so much to love here: Tris’s internal journey as she reclaims her power in a system that has constantly underestimated her, the steamy (and I mean steamy) chemistry between her and Rafe, and the zippy writing that makes the pages fly. Plus, the setting? Total escapist gold. You can practically feel the sun on your skin while you’re reading. Not Safe for Work is everything I want in a modern romance: smart, sexy, empowering, and packed with heart. It’s got big romcom energy with a core that doesn’t shy away from calling out real workplace challenges—and still leaves you swooning in the end.
