Book review

One thing I love about Tessa Bailey is how fast you can fly through her books. Her writing style is so smooth, and she literally always keeps you wanting more, which makes it difficult to put the book down! However, I felt like this particular book stayed more surface level than most of her others that I have read! I know that it is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, but I’m wondering if I would have started off feeling more connected to the characters if I had read the others first. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely grew to love the characters, and even the supporting characters, but the storyline just jumped right in. There wasn’t a lot of background or buildup. Besides that, I really enjoyed so many other elements of the storyline. Madden. Madden was straight up yummy. He was so confident, so stable, and really the definition of an ultimate book boyfriend. It’s not always about how confident the characters are in themselves, but how they help the other main character find their OWN confidence. Madden and Eve’s performance at the end was so well done, and I loved how he let her have the moment she clearly needed to take her power back. But, he was also a part of that moment. He truly let her know that there was nothing she could do to push him away. It was pretty clear from the beginning the identity of the kidney donor, but even with that, the author still found a way to make the reveal feel special and meaningful. I love Tessa Bailey and her books are always a hit!
