Book review

Welcome to Black Cat Hollow, one of those backcountry roads less traveled. Imagine you’re driving alone in the middle of the night and come across a young woman walking by herself. Do you stop to help? Do you keep on driving ? Well, our protagonist, Jack Spinks makes a choice to pull over. That single decision sets off a chain of events that changes the course of the night. What unfolds is a whirlwind and haunting journey where the lines between hallucination and reality are blurred. The atmosphere grows heavier as the night goes on. Jack is forced to face his past and come to terms with the consequences of his actions. I found the journey haunting, cerebral, and deeply unsettling, until it all comes together at the end of the book. It is uncomfortable to read at times, but the discomfort feels intentional. This book is for you if you love fast-paced psychological thrillers where nothing is as it seems and the characters are morally gray. You may not enjoy it if you don’t like long, run-on sentences or have issues with profanity. The writing style is unique and not for everyone. Is this book for you? I guess there’s only one way to find out.
