Book review

A day and a half are all it took me to get through this book. I started with not much time to read before I had stuff to do, and let me just say, the stuff did not get done. The author writes in such a way that makes you forget you are reading. You actually feel like you are in the story, and you know the characters personally. I love how she got into the plot relatively quickly, and I was shocked how fast I fell for the characters, main and supporting. Issac Jordan is not just a book boyfriend; he is a book HUSBAND. There was not one moment of this book where I did not love him to pieces. I typically don’t enjoy miscommunication tropes, but I feel like this one was done in such a realistic way. The confusion with Melinda was believable. The concern over embarrassment regarding Darius was easy to understand. Everything was done so well! Can we take a moment for the sexual tension? I typically don’t love a slow burn, but this was literally the chef’s kiss. I swear I felt every moment of eye contact, every small graze, and the entire dance at the album party. When it finally culminated in their weekend together, I think I actually melted. Their connection was palpable and friends to lovers is honestly the top trope in my opinion. The ONLY thing that prevented this from being a 5 star read for me was strongly wanting to know more about their future together. I think a sequel to this book would be welcome by any who read it. I will be recommending it to everyone!
