Described as a “romantic family saga”, The Honeymoon Cottage by Lori Foster is the first book in the Cemetery, Indiana series. Cemetery, Indiana is a small town of 827 and the main character, Yardley Belanger is the town’s wedding planner–who, ironically, lives with her mother and aunt. Always a wedding planner, never a bride, as they say (or do they? Definitely got my quips mixed up!)
Yardley has accepted that she’ll be single forever as she plans wedding after wedding with no sign of her own. Cue Travis: a very handsome, sweet older brother paying for his sister’s wedding, who he helped raise.
Foster has such a sweet and encompassing way that you’ll be immediately drawn into the town of Cemetery as you follow along on the antics of the townspeople. You’ll fall in love with all the characters and root for them along the way.
One thing I didn’t see coming at all was the best dressed mannequin, Kathleen, who literally shows up when you least expect it – and I realize how strange this sounds, but seriously it’s very funny.
It was a super quick read, and I enjoyed the character development and the little nuances of small town living that Foster included. I’m very excited that it’s the first book in a series because I couldn’t imagine not continuing with these characters. I recommend you grab a copy – soonish!
