It’s hard to find a romance novel you haven’t read before – right?? Do you agree? So when I read the premise for Chloe Baker’s Lost Date I was hooked right away. It’s a premise that’s completely new to me. I read the author’s last book Hazel Fine Sings Along so that immediately endeared me to this book.
So the premise is that Chloe Baker moves to New York, a city very dear to my own heart to start a new life. Her friend Kit sets her up on a date with Jack. After Jack is almost 30 minutes late and Chloe pretty much abandons hope that this will go anywhere – he turns up. They spend the day together and have a magical date. The chemistry is obvious at once and Chloe has great hope for the future. But after said date Jack all but disappears!
Chloe works for a book box subscription company – “for real life” as my children would say. Could anything be more wonderful? What with her job and the backdrop of Manhattan this book has all the ingredients for a “can’t put it down novel”. She ends up using her job to help track down Jack and it’s hilarious and perfect all in one.
Worth mentioning that author Katie Wicks must have the most wonderful friends in her own life as she crafts a beautiful relationship between Chloe and Kit who are best friends. Kit is everything you need a best friend to be and I enjoyed reading about the dynamic so much. Definitely worth a look!
