In her new novel, inspired by Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, Nisha Sharma brings us delightful characters to root for in Dating Dr. Dil. Kareena Mann has been busy making herself a life – a dream career, rebuilding her dream, keeping her mom’s dreams alive. She’s happy, but she is missing someone to be happy with. And her family reminds her constantly. Kareena gets a wake-up call when her father announces he wants to sell their family home. There is money earmarked for Kareena, but only if she gets engaged. Otherwise, that money is off-limits.
Meanwhile, Dr. Prem Verma is broadcasting himself as the poster boy of marriage material. He is hosting an educational television show, The Dr. Dil Show, with dreams of building a community health center. However, Kareena comes to find out, though his name may mean “love,” he’s not in touch with that emotion. A run-in with Kareena gets taped and goes viral, and Dr. Prem loses his health center funding. Kareena is determined to find her soulmate in the next four months or bust. The two try to come to a mutual agreement to see if they can both get what they want.
This is a fun novel! It’s funny and full of charming, well-developed characters. There’s humor, family drama, love, (and it evens brings a bit of heat!) I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. I would recommend to anyone wanting a bit of romance. Even the tried-and-true rom com readers will be proud to welcome this novel to the club!
