Upon landing her dream job in a highly sought after NYC book publishing company, Andie is quick to celebrate her new career achievement. However, on the first day, she is assigned an extremely successful author, Jack Carlson, who just *happens* to be her sworn enemy from an event that lead to an ultimate betrayal 5 years ago.
Now, not only is she assigned this author as his publicist, but also the publishing agency decides it is a fantastic idea to go on a month-long European tour, traipse around London, Paris, Berlin, and Dublin to talk about his book from small bookshops to large audiences in TV and radio stations.
Annnnd Andie hates every minute of it, while at the same time trying her best to stay professional, get the author to where he needs to go and rescue him from any publishing blunders. Andie is stuck between wanting to do a good job and shine in her career and…well…making it look like an accident.
I really loved this book because it was not exactly a romance at first sight. Something happened between them 5 years ago and we do not really find out until the end of the book, which keeps the slight suspense/tension between the characters. At first, Andie seems a little too hostile with Jack, she is incredibly angry, hurt, and not ready to talk about whatever happened between them to help fix the situation. Jack also seems to have some unresolved feelings of his own but is doing an ok job of keeping them in check so they both could remain professional on the tour.
As things unfold on the tour, they get closer and friendlier, but that overall hostility from Andie remains for most of the book, and sometimes it is easy to forget that at some point they did like each other and that they were close together before.
It is a refreshing read, highly recommend.
