The Gloss Book Club was one of the first social activities I joined when I first moved to Manchester, so I’ve experienced first hand how nice it is to meet new people and to interact in person. Book clubs give people a shared experience and perspective from which conversations and friendships can grow. They are great ways to try new books outside of the genres we usually gravitate towards, and allows us to engage with them on a deeper level through discussion with others. I have loved reading my whole life and in today’s busy and overwhelming world I find reading to be the ultimate act of selfcare. My reading tastes are diverse, from ‘chic lit’ to literary fiction, memoir, thrillers and non-fiction. I find the best books are the ones that take you by surprise.
