I have found a new literary crush! I likely had actual heart eyes reading about Noah in this book. Noah and Mia’s story was such an incredible escape, and I did not want it to end. Allison Ashley has written such an incredible love story with Would You Rather and I can’t wait to see what she writes next! I especially loved that she works as a clinical oncology pharmacist as the medical component to this book was very well done, in my opinion.
Noah and Mia have been lifelong friends, best friends, and this friendship is so important to them both. While things are going well for Noah at work, with a possible promotion on the horizon, Mia is dealing with health complications while waiting on a kidney. Because of her complicated medical history, she has avoided romance to never be a burden on anyone, has stayed at a job she isn’t happy with-for the medical benefits of course-and for many reasons, distanced herself from her parents. But when a chance comes for her to return to school for something she loves, it becomes so difficult to say no. This is the dream she has had for so long, but she can’t quit her job and lose her medical benefits. Noah’s suggestion that they get married-just on paper, of course- for the benefits, is a huge risk, not to mention illegal. But will this sham marriage, and the steps they must take to convince others in their life it is real, show them they may be more than best friends?
I really loved this book. Like truly loved every single moment of reading this story. I loved it for being a beautiful love story, but also for the sadness surrounding the heavier topics that felt refreshingly real and raw. I devoured this book and didn’t want to stop living in the world of Noah and Mia. I highly recommend you read this novel!
