*Warning-there will be spoilers in this review from Book #1, Broken Souls and Bones. Be sure to read that story before reading this review*
What an amazing conclusion! I was fortunate enough to be able to read and review Broken Souls and Bones, the first in the Stonegate series, and was very excited to be able to read and review the stunning conclusion of Lyra and Roark’s story in this novel, Heir of Twisted Lies by L.J. Andrews. I have learned that many of L.J. Andrews books are inspired by Nordic and Viking myths, and I absolutely devour these stories! This was no exception! While over 500 pages-it did not feel like it once while reading! In my opinion, it is SO hard to give a comprehensive summary of a L.J. Andrews book as there is just so much detail and twists throughout, but I will try my best!
Lyra Bien is still reeling from the deception she uncovered by her closest friends and lover. After being announced as the melder, she never expected to be able to leave Stonegate alive but arriving at dreaded Dravenmoor, where everyone wants to either control her or kill her, Lyra has never felt so alone. Roark left Stonegate after revealing himself to be a prince of Dravenmoor and deceiving his closet friend and brother, Thane. His return home is no more welcome than Lyra’s, but their bond has been tested, as well as their friendships. When new secrets and betrayals come to light, will their bond break? Or will they forge ahead stronger than ever.
L.J. Andrews is fast becoming a must-read author for me! This is the second series I have read by this author, and I find myself pulled into the world every time. I think it is the uniqueness of her worldbuilding and magic system that makes me get so drawn in and she has the amazing ability to make you feel something about each character-even the “side/secondary characters”. In fact, one of my favorite things about this author is how she often gives her secondary characters their own main character moments in their own books within the series (i.e. The Ever Seas series). So, would I recommend this book? Absolutely yes! Read this series, and when your done with this I dare you to dive into the Ever Seas!
