“Don’t be selfish with your peace. Other people need it too. You won’t run out.”- Mr. Griffith. The wise, older, and stable patriarch will always have me in a chokehold. I don’t know if it is because I am so close with my dad, but I swear, every book would be better with this type of character. I am quickly falling in love with Maggie Gates as a writer! If you can hook me by chapter one or two, you’re easily in my “must read” list. I thought I was in a book slump lately, and I haven’t had much motivation to keep reading my books. BUT it turns out it wasn’t me, it was just the books. Haha! It took me less than 24 hours to fly through this book. I stayed up way past my bedtime and immediately wanted to dive back in when I woke up. The chapters are the perfect length that makes a stopping point not easy to find. The enemies to lovers trope was timed perfectly, and the crossover to romance was filled with such delicious sexual tension that I found myself all giddy waiting for it to happen. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, I love a female main character who is strong, sassy, and confident in her sexual wants and needs. As women, we have so much on our plates at all times. Much like the FMC, we are always thinking about what needs done and what we have to do next. It is so SEXY in the book world, and in the real world to be honest, to have a man who makes us feel so safe that we can put down our sword and step into our femininity. Carson James was that man and MORE! My one complaint about his character was that I felt like he had way too many poetic one liners. I love a few of them, but it started to get slightly cheesy and unrealistic. Also, I wish there would have been more of a climactic scene when finding out who was really stalking her. I feel like it was a few paragraphs and then boom, it was over. I think that could have been stretched out a little bit longer! Otherwise, I absolutely loved it!
