I finished this book one hour ago and I already miss the characters. What a beautiful depiction of life after grief and mental health struggles. I enjoyed getting to know the dark sides of Bennett, but also getting to see how funny and witty she could be. The author did a great job at showcasing not only what it is like to be the one suffering from depression, but also, what it’s like to be the loved one or friend that’s on the other side. The storyline felt real and 100% believable, and I think that really allows you to connect on a deeper level with the characters. Speaking of the characters… freaking Henry Adams. Flirty banter and palpable tension are my top two things I look for in a book, and this one had them both in spades! Henry was the ultimate book boyfriend, and I’m quite literally obsessed with him. The way he pushed Bennett to try new things without forcing her. The way he supported her in her grief and made her feel safe. The way he flirted but also respected her boundaries. He never pushed. He gave her the space to fall in love with him, and it was so sweet and endearing. I could have used a dash more spice, but that is such a personal preference. However, the intimate scenes that were described, ugh, they were done so well. They were tender but passionate, sexy but sweet, important but also humorous. I’ll definitely be recommending this book to everyone and I’m excited for the release date to see all the success!
