Thrust into VAMPS, a prestigious and private boarding academy, Dillon Halloran quickly finds himself out of his league. With no prior knowledge of the world he is about to enter, he finds himself surrounded by the most elite group of vampire fledglings in the world. Dillion is in awe and overwhelmed at this new world and must quickly grasp the seriousness of the rules and requirements surrounding acceptance to this school, and the skills of the teachers around him.
Caught with what appears to be a disadvantage, Dillon is the only dhampir to be admitted in the history of VAMPS. Having grown up with a human father, Dillon knows nothing of his mother other than her vampiric nature and that she left Dillon with his father to keep him safe. While learning what it means to be a vampire fledgling, Dillon must also reconcile the human side of himself and the father he left behind.
Dillion races to catch up as he learns more about this new world while fighting against the prejudice against dhampirs, and his acceptance to the school – something he never asked for. Challenge after challenge Dillon surprises himself and everyone around him as he begins to show amazing prowess in areas he had not even known he had.
In no time Dillon is brutally aware of the uniqueness of his situation and his blood as it has made him a spectacle with a target on his back. As tensions begin to mount over the Year One upcoming tests, Dillon finds he must be on his guard more than ever and unsure of who he can trust in this new world.
