Rating: 4/5
Remember My Name is a quintessential “chick-lit” novel! The story starts with Jessica Malone’s high school musical days and quickly takes you to her current life singing Disney songs at children’s birthday parties. She has always dreamed of fame… and voila – Head of Talent for Starmaker Records is at one of her parties. Jess quickly becomes “Jessika” and shows you the life of fame she has always dreamed of – but is it what she expected? In addition to Jess’s career storyline, there are also two men tugging on Jess’s heartstrings, one from her past life and one from her new. The book is quite predictable – but in all the right ways. As a lover of this genre, I thought it was a great read.
I gave the book 4/5 for its quick pace, funny and heartfelt moments, and for Clancy’s ability to put you in Jessica’s shoes. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for a Girly Book Club Book – it lacks depth and transformative moments for deep and thoughtful discussion. I would, however, recommend it for anyone looking for something light and fun for their next trip. I would definitely read another Abbey Clancy book.
