Is there a gene that could let you know if your son is predisposed to be a violent or aggressive person? If there is a test for said gene, do you think you would choose to have it done on your child? The plot of this book immediately drew me in! I have never read anything along these lines before, and I was incredibly intrigued to see how it was written!
I enjoyed the relatively short length of the chapters and all of the different points of view. It was pretty obvious early on what was happening or what was going to happen, but it was pulled together very well in the end. I enjoyed learning what actually happened from Jack and Antonia’s points of view. Whenever it was one of their chapters coming up, I couldn’t put the book down and I had to just get in that “one more chapter”.
I struggled with the first half of the book because it moved at a slower pace. I like when things move a little quicker, but once the pieces started to fall in to place and a lot of the truth was starting to be revealed, I felt like I was able to get through the pages at a faster pace. I wish the book would have had a more in depth epilogue that detailed what happened to Jack (even though it was implied), and what happened to Bea and Owen later on. It ended so abruptly and I think the loose ends could have been tied up a little more.
This storyline really pulled me in from just the back cover summary, and if I was shopping for a book, it would absolutely be something that I would pick up just because it sounds so unique. I will definitely be recommending it to others.
