Ohhh Alice Feeney… I’ll read ANYTHING you write.
“All families have their own private routines and secret language, and all families know how to hurt one another.”
Let me tell you, every person in the Darker family needs a LOT of therapy. What a dysfunctional family lol
This is the kind of book that will keep you wondering what the heck is going on, and every chapter you read makes you wonder even more.
The Darker family is finally getting reunited for the matriarch’s 80th birthday (and it’s allegedly going to be her last one)
Nana lives in a huge Victorian house on a creepy island that you can’t leave for the night because of the tide. Oh, and her birthday is on Halloween – Yes, the setting is literally perfectly spooky!
Some people in the family are more interested in the will and what they’ll get when Nana passes away. Except for Daisy Darker. She is grandma’s little darling. Unlike her sisters, Daisy was always the fragile sick child.
After the clock strikes midnight, the members of the Darker family start showing up dead. By the hour! And in very particular ways. It’s SO. FREAKING. CREEPY.
You’ll suspect everyone. Honestly.
Some parts were a little too slow, and some things were a little predictable. But the main plot was great and I absolutely did not see it coming.
For fans of Agatha Christie and all the locked room murder mystery kind of books, this one is for you!
“Everyone you know is both good and bad, it’s part of being human.”
