Is it ever too late to meet your soulmate and figure out who you truly are? In many ways, this is the challenge of Del Arbol’s latest tale. Two people, Helena and Miguel, meet during what they believe is the final chapter of their lives. At first glance, they seem to be total opposites, destined to dislike one another, but they discover an affinity for each other that is like none they have ever experienced.
Together they embark on a journey, meant to tie up loose ends for each of them. A journey that turns out to be full of discoveries, not only of each other, but also of themselves and the stories of their lives that they have either told, or kept hidden, sometimes even from themselves. As Helena and Miguel make their way toward what they think is their goal, the reader is drawn into the stories of those they meet and those that made up their history.
In Above the Rain, Victor Del Arbol, explores the intricacies of human relationships and connections, tying the stories and fates of each character he introduces together in one big connected tale, much like the world we live in. His characters are heartbreakingly real and flawed, each with their own perspective, each seeking love and acceptance.
Above the Rain encourages the reader to look at that place, above the storm, where distance offers the opportunity for a more objective perspective of the chaos that is life.
